Operation Christmas Child
Anyone interested in packing a shoebox with gifts for Operation Christmas Child can pick up boxes and packing brochures at the table in the worship center foyer. We are encouraging individuals, families, and Sunday School classes to participate. If you have any questions, contact Nan Reeves ( ).
Be a part of the technology lead team
The Vision Committee is looking for people in our church who feel comfortable navigating and posting on social media (including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). We also need people who understand about video production (short videos that will be produced primarily for online and in-church use).

Parent's Night Out (October 20)
Kids ages 3 months to Grade 5
Kids ages 3 months to 5th grade are invited to our special Fall themed Parent’s Night Out on October 20 from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. There will be seasonal games, activities, crafts, and much more. Dinner is provided with a cost of $5 a child and $15 max per family. Enjoy a date night with your spouse knowing your child is safe, well cared for, and having a ton of fun! Click here to register.
multicultural Worship service (October 22)
There will be multi-cultural worship service at Southland on October 22 at 6:00 pm. Some of the churches represented in worship leadership will be Brushy Top Cowboy Church, Segunda, Hope Korean, Galilee Missionary, and Christian Fellowship among others. Join us for this service as we celebrate diversity in the community of God’s family.
Women's Bible Study (October 24 & 25)
The Women's Ministry is studying Kelly Minter's "All Things New". There is a study every Tuesday morning at 10:00 am in the Overflow (facilitated by Annette Mayer) and Wednesday evening at 6:15 pm in the Den (facilitated by Christi Christian). Books are $15.

Church Conference (October 25)
There will be a Church Conference on Wednesday, October 25 at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall to approve messengers to the convention.
san jacinto elementary fall festival (October 26)
Many children don't have money to attend the Fall Festival at San Jacinto. Please sponsor a child by donating $10 each for an "all games" bracelet for the Fall Festival. Give in Sunday School, at the church office, or use an offering envelope marked "SJ Fall Festival". We also need 50 cakes for the cake walk. If you would like to donate a cake, please have it to the church office by 11:00 am on October 26. The festival is October 26 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Fifth Quarter (October 27)
Students are invited to hang out at Fifth Quarter after the football game on Friday, October 27. Meet at the church until midnight.
maker fall fest (October 29)
Try something new this fall and give your kids much more than a sugar rush... Join us on October 29 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm for Maker Fest! At Maker Fest, families tinker, invent, doodle, and create together! At each idea-sparking station, they’ll have a blast as they learn how their creative Master Maker made them for a unique purpose. Kids need encouraging messages of truth and love to shape their identity. Maker Fest helps them discover they’re God’s masterpiece! This event is for the whole community and will include games, crafts, food, music, and more! We also encourage kids to wear their costumes.
Trunk or treat (October 31)
Church-Wide, Student Ministry Volunteering
Trunk or Treat will take place on Tuesday, October 31 at 5:30 pm in the church parking lot. Stop by in your Halloween costume for some trick-or-treating in a safe environment! Youth ministry students who are helping out need to meet in the parking lot at 5:15 pm.
We would also love your help to host a trunk or donate candy. Call the church office (949-9633) if you would like to volunteer.
family movie night (November 3)
Join us for Family Movie Night on Friday, November 3 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm! We'll have fun with Peter Pan, Wendy, John, and Tinker Bell! Be on the lookout for Captain Hook!
Central High School Football (November 3)
Students will attend the Central game in Midland on Friday, November 3. We will leave from the church at 5:00 pm and return around 12:00 am.
interfaith dialogue (November 5)
The Southland Christian Life Division will host an educational Interfaith Dialogue on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 4:30 PM in the Overflow. Special guests will be Ami Mizell-Flint, who will discuss the Jewish faith, and the chaplain at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Air Force Captain Iskanar Atajanow, who will discuss the Islamic faith. Those interested are invited to attend this informative event.
we is bigger than me: a weekend of renewal (November 11)
On Saturday, November 11 fro 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, we will host New Testament scholar Scot McKnight for a day of lectures, Q&A, and breakout discussions. Dr. McKnight's lecture topics will focus on the church in a changing cultural context. The cost for this event is $25 per person and includes registration and lunch.

jingle jam (December 10)
Every good and perfect gift comes from God. In fact, generosity is at the very core of God’s character—He even gave us His own son! Jingle Jam, happening December 10, is an exciting event that celebrates the true meaning of Christmas with families in our community. Dinner will begin at 5:00 pm, with the show starting at 6:00 pm. All ages are welcome to this dynamic evening of music, dancing, games, and a live telling of the Christmas story. The show is free. We'll have more information on the cost of the meal soon.
Youth Soup Kitchen (December 16)
The Student ministry will be helping out with the soup kitchen on Saturday, December 16. Meet at the church at 9:00 am to leave from there.
Youth at Meadowcreek Nursing HOme (December 17)
The Student Ministry will meet in the foyer at 10:00 am to help out at Meadowcreek Nursing Home on Sunday, December 17.
Youth choir christmas CAROLING (December 17)
The Youth Choir will go Christmas caroling on Sunday, December 17. More details to come.
Shopping trip to abilene (December 18)
The Student Ministry will take a Christmas shopping trip to Abilene on Monday, December 18. More details to come.
bounce student disaster recovery (March 14-17, 2018)
Parents & students grades 7-12 are invited to partner with BOUNCE for a mission trip to an area of the Gulf Coast impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Cost is $140 per person and includes meals, lodging, and travel. The student ministry will have a least one fundraiser to help off-set the cost for participants. Space is limited.
