6/7/18 A Message From Chris
Yesterday, we began our Wednesday study, The Dangerous Act of Worship. I want to thank Matt Walton for leading the first session while I am in Sugar Land packing my belongings. I will be leading on June 20.
In the first chapter of the book, Labberton writes: “Worship names what matters most”. As I reflected on this sentence, there are many days where our worship names something other than God. We name Security, Prosperity, Safety, a Political Party, or another Human Being as the most important aspect of our life. Each time we do this, we are falling short of worshipping the Almighty God who we were created to worship in the first place.
St. Augustine once said, “O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.” As I survey our culture, there are many restless hearts seeking to find rest in places that only bring anxiety. If you would still like to join us on this journey on Wednesday afternoons at 12:00, there is still time. Due to Vacation Bible School, our study will not meet on June 13, so there is time to pick up a book, catch up on the reading and spend time reflecting with a group of people what it really means to Live Out our Worship.
